A swarm of roaches broke into the office of National Television and Siyatha journalist Yolan Perera located on the top floor of the Singer Building on D.S. Senanayake Street in Kandy and severely damaged the camera equipment and computers there.
A swarm of roaches that have been staying on the roofs of buildings in Kandy city entered the building this afternoon and broke the thick safety glass on the floor where the office is located, entering it, thus severely damaging valuable technical equipment, says Yolan Perera.
The security officer who was deployed to drive away the Rila herd also narrowly escaped being attacked by the Rila herd. This Rila herd has been harassing people on the roofs of buildings on D.S. Senanayake Street, the main street of Kandy city, for quite some time, and businessmen there say that on some occasions the Rila herd chases young people who come to the restaurant in that building.
At present, a number of hotels, vegetable and fruit shops and houses in Kandy city are being attacked by Rila herds daily, and the public is complaining that no solution has been provided to these long-term animal sufferings.
Yolan Perera: It is unacceptable that what has been earned through hard work for more than three decades of media fraternity should be destroyed in this manner. The officials responsible for this situation should be held accountable and it is reported that such incidents are already happening on a large scale.

මහනුවර නගරයේ ගොඩනැගිලි වල වහල මත රැඳී සිටින රිලා රංචුවක් අද පස්වරුවේ එම ගොඩනැගිල්ලට ඇතුලු වී එම කාර්යාලය පිහිටි මහලේ ඝණකම් ආරක්ෂක වීදුරු බිඳ දමා ඊට ඇතුලු වී මෙසේ වටිනා තාක්ෂණික උපකරණ වලට බරපතල ලෙස හානි කර ඇති බව යෝලන් පෙරේරා මහතා පවසයි.
රිලා රංචුව පලවා හැරීම සදහා ක්රියාත්මක වූ එහි ආරක්ෂක නිළධාරියාද රිලවුන්ගේ ප්රහාරයකට ලක්වීමට ගොස් යාන්තමින් බේරී ඇත.මෙම රිලා රංචුව සෑහෙන කාලයක සිට මහනුවර නගරයේ ප්රධාන වීදිය වන ඩී,එස්.සේනානායක වීදියේ ගොඩනැගිලි වල වහල මත රැඳී සිටිමින් ජනතාවට හිරිහැර කරමින් සිටින බවත් ඇතැම් අවස්ථා වල එම රිලා රංචුව එම ගොඩනැගිල්ලේ ආපන ශාලාවට පැමිණෙන තරුණ තරුණියන් පසුපස හඹා යන බවද එහි ව්යාපාරිකයින් පවසති.
මේ වන විට මහනුවර නගරයේ හෝටල් එළවළු පළතුරු වෙළඳ සැල් ගණනාවක් හා නිවාස දිනපතා රිලවුන්ගේ ග්රහණයට ලක්වන අතර දීර්ඝකාලීනව සිදුවන මෙම සත්ව පීඩාවන්ට කිසිදු විසදුමක් ලබාදීමට අපොහොසත් වී ඇති බවට
