A meeting between Dr. Geetha Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director of International Finance Fund (IMF) and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya was held on June 16th at Temple Tree House. After facing an economic crisis, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s firm commitment to working closely with international partners as the economy enters the path of recovery.
Just like Dr. Gopinath evaluated the government’s diversified and active approach to debt repayment, she also mentioned that the progress made so far has strengthened international faith in the government’s efforts. She also specifically mentioned the complex challenges facing the country to stabilize and rebuild the economy. Dr. Gopinath mentioned here that the government-led economic reform frame, sets an example for other countries facing similar financial and structural challenges as our country.
