A society that has lost its life due to money or power can be given spiritual life through Buddhist philosophy – President
The inauguration ceremony of the centenary of the Sri Dalada Poson Perahera at the historic Athkanda Rajamaha Viharaya in Kurunegala was held on (21) with the participation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The annual Sri Dalada Poson Perahera at the historic Athkanda Rajamaha Viharaya began in 1925 and a commemorative stamp and first day cover were also released to mark this centenary.
Two scholarly anthologies were released on the occasion of the Sri Dalada Poson Perahera and a song was released on behalf of the Sri Dalada Poson Perahera.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also presented prizes and certificates to the students who won the competition held in conjunction with the centenary of the Poson Perahera at the Athkanda Viharaya.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that no matter how much physical development is done to a spiritually degraded society, there is no result, and that a cultural society in a country can be built by citizens with ethical and spiritual qualities.
The President pointed out that the Jataka story book and Buddhist culture provide a strong foundation to give spiritual life to a society that has lost its life due to money or power.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that Buddhism has shown the way for the ruler to love the people and to be accountable to them, and that since the roots of those precious cultural gifts have been removed from society today, everyone should come together to build a society with a spiritual life by following those ancient cultural roots.
Although some have stated that the current government will stop the procession if it comes to power, the President pointed out that the current government’s program to give value to cultural values and core systems has been practically proven today.

ඓතිහාසික ඇත්කඳ රජමහා විහාරයේ වාර්ෂිකව සිදු කරන ශ්රී දළදා පොසොන් පෙරහැර වර්ෂ 1925 ආරම්භ වී ඇති අතර මෙම සියවස් සමරුව නිමිත්තෙන් සමරු මුද්දරයක් සහ මුල් දින කවරයක් එළිදැක්වීමද මෙහිදී සිදු විය.
ශ්රී දළදා පොසොන් පෙරහැර නිමිත්තෙන් ශාස්ත්රීය සංග්රහයන් දෙකක් එළිදැක්වීම සහ ශ්රී දළදා පොසොන් පෙරහැර වෙනුවෙන් ගීතයක් එළි දැක්වීමද මෙහිදී සිදු කෙරිණි.
ඇත්කඳ විහාරයේ පොසොන් පෙරහැර මංගල්යය ශතක සංවරත්සරයට සමගාමීව පැවැති තරගාවලියෙන් ජයග්රහණය කළ සිසු දරුවන්ට ත්යාග හා සහතික පත්ර ප්රදානය කිරීමද ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා අතින් සිදු කෙරිණ.
අධ්යාත්මිකව පිරිහුණු සමාජයක් කෙතරම් භෞතිකව දියුණු කළද ඵලක් නොමැති බවත්, ආචාරධාර්මික හා අධ්යාත්මික ගුණයෙන් යුතු පුරවැසියන් මඟින් රටක සංස්කෘතික සමාජය ගොඩනැගිය හැකි බවත් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා මෙහිදී ප්රකාශ කළේය.
මුදල් හෝ බලය මත ජීවය මැරුණු සමාජය ගොඩගැනීම වෙනුවෙන් අධ්යාත්මික ජීවය ලබා දීමට ජාතක කතා පොත හා බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතිය ශක්තිමත් පදනමක් සපයන බව ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
පාලකයා ජනතාවට ආදරය කරනවා මෙන්ම ජනතාවට වගවීමක් ඇති කිරිමට බුදු දහම තුළින් මග පෙන්වා තිබෙන බවත්, එම අගනා සංස්කෘතික දායදයන්හි, අක්මුල් අද සමාජයෙන් බැහැර වී තිබෙන බැවින් නැවතත්, එම පැරැණි සංස්කෘතික අක්මුල් කැටුව එමින් අධ්යාත්මික ජීවයක් ඇති සමාජයක් ගොඩනැගීමට සියලුදෙනා එක්විය යුතු බවත් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා මෙහිදී ප්රකාශ කරන ලදී.
වත්මන් ආණ්ඩුව බලයට පැමිණියහොත් පෙරහැර නතර කර දමන බවට ඇතැමුන් ප්රකාශ කළද සංස්කෘතික වටිනාකම් හා හර පද්ධතීන්ට වටිනාකමක් ලබාදීමේ වත්මන් රජයේ වැඩපිළිවෙළ අද ප්රායෝගිකව ඔප්පු කර තිබෙන බවද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
