The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, will be on an official visit to Sri Lanka from the 23rd to the 26th of this month.

This is the first visit by a UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to Sri Lanka since February 2016.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, who is visiting the island, is scheduled to meet and discuss with the President
and the Prime Minister, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism, several Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior government officials, religious leaders, representatives of civil society, members of the diplomatic community and the Head of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
During his visit to Sri Lanka, the High Commissioner will visit Kandy to pay homage to the Tooth Relic and meet the Mahanayake of the Malwatte and Asgiri Chapters.
Volker Turk, who is travelling to Jaffna and Trincomalee, is also expected to meet with the Governors of the Northern and Eastern Provinces. The visit will focus on further advancing the promotion and protection of human rights and reconciliation, in line with the Government of Sri Lanka’s ongoing productive relationship with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

කැබිනට් අමාත්යවරුන් කිහිප දෙනෙකු, පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රීවරුන්, ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ රජයේ නිලධාරීන්,
ආගමික නායකයින්, සිවිල් සමාජයේ නියෝජිතයින්, රාජ්ය තාන්ත්රික ප්රජාවේ සාමාජිකයින් සහ
ශ්රී ලංකාවේ මානව හිමිකම් කොමිසමේ ප්රධානින් හමුවී සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට නියමිතයි.

යාපනයට සහ ත්රිකුණාමලයට යන වොල්කර් ටර්ක් මහතා උතුරු සහ නැගෙනහිර පළාත්වල
ආණ්ඩුකාරවරුන් හමුවීමට ද අපේක්ෂා කරනවා.

යන ඵලදායී සම්බන්ධතාවයට අනුකූලව, මානව හිමිකම් සහ සංහිඳියාව ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීම සහ
ආරක්ෂා කිරීම තවදුරටත් ඉදිරියට ගෙන යාම කෙරෙහි මෙම සංචාරය තුලදී අවධානය යොමු කරනු
ඇත.
