The Illegal Assets Investigation Division has initiated an investigation into the assets of 28 politicians, including current members of parliament and powerful ministers of the previous government.
The Illegal Assets Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department has initiated this investigation in response to complaints that the relevant individuals have purchased the relevant properties using money allegedly earned illegally.
Accordingly, the names of Namal Rajapaksa, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Mahinda Amaraweera, Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Kanchana Wijesekera, Sagala Ratnayake, Janaka Thisakutti Arachchi, Vajira Abeywardena, Mahipala Herath, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Manusha Nanayakkara, Vadivel Suresh, Thushara Sanjeewa Pathirana, Harshana Rajakaruna, Shanakya Rasamanikyam, Shivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan and Shantha Abeysekera have also been included in the relevant investigation.
It is reported that they are scheduled to be brought to the relevant unit in the future and their statements will be recorded.
Meanwhile, the Illicit Assets Investigation Division has also initiated an investigation into the properties of former Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva.
A senior official further stated that if it is revealed during the relevant investigation that someone has purchased properties with ill-gotten gains, they will be seized and necessary legal action will be taken.

වත්මන් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රීවරුන් හා පැවැති ආණ්ඩුවේ ප්රබල අමාත්යවරුන් ඇතුළු දේශපාලනඥයන් 28 දෙනෙකුගේ වත්කම් පිළිබඳව, නීතිවිරෝධී වත්කම් විමර්ශන කොට්ඨාසය මගින් විමර්ශනයක් ආරම්භ කර තිබේ.
අදාළ පුද්ගලයන් අයථා ලෙස ඉපැයූ බව කියන මුදල් යොදවා අදාළ දේපොළ මිලදීගෙන ඇති බවට ලද පැමිණිලිවලට අදාළ අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ නීති විරෝධී වත්කම් විමර්ශන කොට්ඨාසය විසින් මෙම විමර්ශනය ආරම්භ කර ඇත.
ඒ අනුව නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ, මහින්ද යාපා අබේවර්ධන, මහින්ද අමරවීර, චාමර සම්පත් දසනායක, රෝහිත අබේගුණවර්ධන, පවිත්රා වන්නිආරච්චි, කංචන විජේසේකර, සාගල රත්නායක, ජානක තිසකුට්ටි ආරච්චි, වජිර අබේවර්ධන, මහීපාල හේරත්, අනුර ප්රියදර්ශන යාපා, මනූෂ නානායක්කාර, වඩිවේල් සුරේෂ්, තුෂාර සංජීව පතිරණ, හර්ෂණ රාජකරුණා, ශානක්ය රාසමානික්යම්, ශිවනේසතුරෙයි චන්ද්රකාන්තන් හෙවත් පිල්ලෙයාන් හා ශාන්ත අබේසේකර යන අයගේ නම්ද අදාළ විමර්ශනයේ ඇතුළත්ව ඇති බව සඳහන්.
ඔවුන්ව ඉදිරියේදී අදාළ ඒකකයට ගෙන්වා ප්රකාශ සටහන් කරගැනීමට නියමිත බවයි වාර්තා වේ.
මේ අතර හිටපු ආරක්ෂක මාණ්ඩලික ප්රධානී ජෙනරල් ශවේන්ද්ර සිල්වා මහතාගේ දේපළ සම්බන්ධයෙන් ද නීති විරෝධී වත්කම් විමර්ශන කොට්ඨාසය මගින් විමර්ශනයක් ආරම්භ කර තිබේ.
අදාළ විමර්ශනයේදී යම්කිසිවෙකු අයථා ලෙස මුදල් උපයාගෙන ඇති දේපළ මිලදීගෙන ඇති බවට හෙළි වුවහොත්, ඒවා පවරාගෙන අවශ්ය අධිකරණ ක්රියාමාර්ග ගන්නා බව උසස් නිලධාරියෙකු වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.
