UN High Commissioner for Human Rights visits Sri Lanka after 9 years

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk arrived in Sri Lanka on 23 June for an official visit.
This is the first visit by a UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to Sri Lanka since Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein on 6 February 2016.
The UN Human Rights Office has explained the purpose of the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Accordingly, he is scheduled to discuss a wide range of human rights issues during this visit, including accountability and effective remedies for victims of human rights violations, as well as reconciliation efforts.
He will also discuss the human rights impacts of the economic crisis and ways to restore the economy and promote social justice for the benefit of all Sri Lankans.
වසර 9කට පසු UN මානව හිමිකම් මහ කොමසාරිස් ශ්රී ලංකාවට
එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මානව හිමිකම් පිළිබඳ මහ කොමසාරිස් වෝල්කර් ටර්ක් නිල සංචාරයක් වෙනුවෙන් ජූනි 23 වන දා ශ්රී ලංකාවට පැමිණියේ ය.
2016 වසරේ පෙබරවාරි 06 වන දා සයිඩ් රාද් අල්-හුසේන් ශ්රී ලංකාවට පැමිණීමෙන් පසු එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මානව හිමිකම් පිළිබඳ මහ කොමසාරිස්වරයෙකු ශ්රී ලංකාවට පැමිණියේ වසර 9කට පසුව ය.
එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මානව හිමිකම් පිළිබඳ මහ කොමසාරිස්වරයා ශ්රී ලංකාවට පැමිණියේ කුමක් සඳහා ද යන්න එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මානව හිමිකම් කාර්යාලය පැහැදිලි කර තිබේ.
ඒ අනුව, ඔහු මෙම සංචාරයේදී මානව හිමිකම් උල්ලංඝණයන්ට ගොදුරු වූවන් සඳහා වගවීම සහ ඵලදායී පිළියම් මෙන් ම ප්රතිසන්ධාන ප්රයත්නයන් ඇතුළු පුළුල් පරාසයක මානව හිමිකම් ගැටලු පිළිබඳව සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට නියමිත ය.
ආර්ථික අර්බුදය නිසා මානව හිමිකම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් සිදුවූ බලපෑම් සහ සියලු ම ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන්ගේ ප්රයෝජනය සඳහා ආර්ථිකය යථා තත්ත්වයට පත්කිරීම සහ සමාජ සාධාරණත්වය ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීමේ ක්රම පිළිබඳව ද ඔහු මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡා කරනු ඇත.
